Passing by the Allentown Rose Garden the other morning on my way to work, I had to stop for a couple quick images of the fresh snowfall. It was just before sunrise and I was drawn by the subtle blue hour of morning light that glazed over the fresh snow that had fallen over night. Normally I would have just passed by, but I had my trusty Fuji X-T1 sidekick on the front seat of the car. Ever since purchasing the mirror-less camera last year, it has helped me rediscover moments like this and enjoy these photography opportunities that a larger and heavier camera may have caused me to skip over. In the past it would have been too cold to lug the big heavy gear through the snow, especially in my dress shoes on my way to work. But the lighter and smaller, yet non-compromised performance of the mirror-less design, in my small Ona messenger bag, gives me the freedom to enjoy a quick moment like this. Everything looked so peaceful. As much as I enjoy the calm of winter, I am excited for the upcoming spring season. In just a few short weeks, the gardens will be filled with green grass, flowers, joggers and wedding parties capturing their memories in the garden. I can’t wait.
